Général

Q: What SoC are you using?

The SoC is a Amlogic S905 quad-core.

Q: What GPU does it include?

ARM Mali-450 MP3

In fact there are 5 GPU cores:

3 fragment(pixel) processors and
2 vertex shader(geometric) processors.

But normally we are counting the number of fragment processors only.

Q: How does it boot?

You have to boot from SD card or eMMC.

Q: Can I buy OS pre-loaded SD card or eMMC?

Yes. Add to cart it when you purchase the storage devices.

Q: Can I add extra RAM memory?

No. The RAM is not removable or swappable.

Q: How can I get Ubuntu/Android BSP source code?

U-boot, Kernel and OS source code are released via out Github from the first shipping date.

Q: Does it play 1080p/4K video contents well on Ubuntu Linux?

Yes, H.264/H.265 video format can use the hardware accelerated decoder on Ubuntu.

The GPU/VPU drivers for Kodi and Command line player are available on 64bit Ubunut/Linux now.

Q: Does it play 4K videos with a real 4K monitor?

Yes, it works with Android as well as Ubuntu/Linux.

Does the GUI support 4K resolution?

It works but slowly on Ubuntu. We don't recommend to use 4K desktop UI.

Q: I have 1080P display. Do I have to use High Speed 4K HDMI2.0 Cable?

No, you can HDMI1.4 cable.

HDMI2.0 cable is required only when you connect the C2 to the 4K/UHD TV.

Q: How can I root(rooting) the Android?

Unlocked/Rooted by default for developers

Q: How can I install the Google Play (Android Market/Google Store)?

It is very simple. (Use open_gapps-arm-5.1-mini-20160624)

Q: Can I get PCB layout file and gerber file?

No. The ODROID project is not a full open source hardware.

We released the schematics(PDF) only.

Q: I am a platform/OS developer. What should I buy with ODROID-C2?

The minimum peripherals + below items.

USB-UART module Kit for debugging and system console (Not included)
Micro-USB cable for fastboot and ADB interface (Not included)

Q: I have a USB-Serial converter. Should I buy your USB-UART module kit?

No if you can solder the terminals on the board.

But we strongly recommend to use our USB-UART module kit because it has a proper connector.

Q: How to access internet with ODROID-C2?

Use a 10/100/1000 LAN Ethernet connection
or Buy the WiFi module kit for wireless connection.

Q: What display can I use?

There is a HDMI (Type-A) output port on ODROID-C2.

Here is a list of supported resolution at this moment.

We will try to support more resolutions.

HDMI-DVI converter may work with many DVI monitors but a few of them will not work due to compatibility issue.

We also recommend our 7-inch HDMI LCD kit(ODROID-VU7) with a capacitive touch screen if you want to develop the modern user interface.

There is no analog VGA/TV output port. But there is a CVBS test point. Refer our schematics.

Q: Is there touch screen on the 7 inch HDMI LCD Kit (VU7)?

Yes. 5-points multi-touch screen via USB interface.

Q: Where can I get HDMI cable?

You can purchase one on our website.

HDMI Type-A connector is required. If you need 4K display, you must need to use HDMI2.0 cable.

But some cables has a few missing ground wires and it causes malfunction with some monitors Voyez ce fil de discussion.

Q: My monitor doesn't have HDMI port. Any other display options are available?

You can use out 7-inch LCD kit which you can purchase on on our website.

Or try a compatible HDMI-VGA / HDMI-DVI adapter.

Audio

Q: Is sound over HDMI supported?

Yes.

Is there any Analog audio output or input?

No. But you can use our USB Audio Adapter.

Q: Is there any I2S port to connect a HiFi DAC?

Yes.

Stockage

Q: What is eMMC module?

NAND flash based storage IC is mounted on our custom PCB for easier upgrade/replacement.

It is much faster than SD card.

Transfer rate of eMMC is 120~150MB/sec approx. in the real world, while SD(UHS-1) card is 30MB/sec approx.

Q: Do you have a SATA port?

No. But you can use a SATA-to-USB bridge device.

Alimentation

Q: Which power adaptor should I use?

The ODROID-C2 consumes less than 500~900mA in most cases, but it can climb to 2A if many passive USB peripherals are attached directly to the main board.

You can use our 5V/2A PSU or USB-to-DC Plug cable.

Logiciel

Q: Quel système d'exploitation (OS) fonctionne sur cette carte ?

ODroid recommande l'usage des distributions par défaut Android et Ubuntu (version ODroid). Le système d'exploitation est stocké soit sur une carte SD, soit sur un module mémoire eMMC.

Quelle versions d'Android & Ubuntu sont disponibles?

Android 5.1.x
Ubuntu 16.04
Les deux OS utilise le noyau 3.14 LTS.

Q: Quel version d'OpenGL et OpenCL sont disponibles sur Android et Ubuntu?

OpenGL ES 1.1, 2.0
OpenCL n'est pas supporté

Q: Où peut-on se procurer le kit de développement (SDK) OpenGL-ES

Q: Le code source est il ouvert et puis-je le compiler moi même ?

Yes. U-boot, le noyaux et les source de l'OS sont disponibles.

mais il y a deux exceptions.

Le pilote GPU (user-land drivers) est disponible au format binaire (librairie binaire). Limitation imposée par ARM's policy
Le "Boot blob" est également au format binaire. Limitation imposée par Amlogic's policy

Q: Does appliquer des patch/correctif pour faire fonctionne le matériel ODroid disponible en option sur le site ?

Non, ce matériel fonctionn "out-of-box".

Réseau

Q: La carte fonctionne t'elle sur un réseau?

Oui. Il y a un port RJ45 pour réseau Ethernet 10/100/1000.

Q: Y a t'il un WiFi ?

Oui, disponible via une clé WiFi.
