Click "BLINK AN LED" under the Example apps title. This code turns D7 (labeled led2) on and off, once a second. Click the lightning bolt icon in the upper left and it will upload or "flash" this code onto your Photon. You'll see a series of status colors on the main LED, and then the little blue LED blinking. Magic!

Votre nouveau Photon

Congratulations on being the owner of a brand new Photon! Here's what you need to get started:

  • (1) Photon: Your Particle development board
  • (1) USB cable: A male-to-micro USB cable is needed to power the Photon. Included in Photon Kit and Maker Kit

If you purchased a Photon Kit or Maker Kit, you also received a breadboard to wire components to the Photon.

Photon Kits also contain:

  • (1) Photoresistor
  • (1) LED
  • (2) 220 Ohm Resistors

We have complete examples in detail that show you how to use these awesome components!

More info on the components themselves.

Maker Kits contain more goodies, all detailed here.

In the next section, we'll teach you how to set up your device.

Démarrer

Etape 1: Alimenter le Photon

Plug the USB cable into the Photon and your computer. The Photon should start blinking blue.

  • Not blinking blue?
    • Maybe it's already been configured. Hold down the SETUP button until it starts blinking blue, then continue.

Etape 2: Installer l'App

You can search for the mobile app named Particle, or you can click one of these links:

Open up the Particle app on your mobile device, and tap the "Get Started" button to start the process of connecting your Photon to wifi. In the app, you'll need to login with your Particle account or create an account if you don't have one.

Etape 3: Connect Your Photon to the Cloud

Follow the on-screen instructions in the mobile app to connect your Photon to the Particle cloud.

When your Photon is connecting to wifi it will go through the following colors, but don't worry if you don't see them all:

  • Flashing blue: Soft-AP setup mode, waiting for network information.
  • Solid blue: Soft-AP setup complete, network information found.
  • Flashing green: Connecting to local Wi-Fi network.
  • Flashing cyan: Connecting to Cloud.
  • High-speed flashing cyan: Cloud handshake.
  • Blinking magenta: Updating to the newest firmware
  • Breathing cyan: Successfully connected to Cloud.

Note: All new Photons will receive an update from the Particle cloud after coming online for the first time. You'll know your Photon is being updated when it starts flashing magenta. Please be patient, this could take a few minutes.

Faire clignoter la LED

Now let's control the blue LED on the device. If you click here or on Build on the main page, you'll be in the IDE- where we can write code and upload it to the Photon. Log in with the same email and password you used to sign up in the app, and we're off!

Magic!
